Our Story

V&A Waterfront Take the Stage series is a platform for emerging South African musicians and musical ensembles to showcase their talents at V&A Waterfront. Experience these emerging artists live for a series of pop-up performances starting November 2024 until the end of March 2025 which are free for all to attend.

We've lined up an incredible series of performances that will have you tapping your feet and swaying to the music all night long – and the best part? Entry is free! The V&A Waterfront's Silo Concerts are an exciting series of free performances that take place in the stunning Silo District. These concerts offer a wide range of music genres, from jazz to pop, with talented local and international artists gracing the stage. It’s a wonderful opportunity to enjoy live music in a scenic outdoor setting, perfect for a night of dancing and relaxation. Each performance brings its own unique flair, making the experience magical.

Silo Concerts

Get ready for a magical experience! Kids won’t want to miss the chance to see and meet Santa at the Centre Court in the Waterfront, starting Sunday, 15 December 2024. The jolly man himself will make a grand arrival at 3 pm, bringing holiday cheer and excitement to the little ones. It’s set to be a truly memorable event, with Santa arriving in a special, festive carriage full of wonder and surprises. The magic of Christmas comes alive—don’t miss it!"

Santa’s Arrival

Battery Park in the V&A Waterfront is a one-of-a-kind urban park in Cape Town. Steeped in history, the area has been transformed into a dynamic public space that offers many experiences for every visitor. On selected dates, the lawn of this outdoor park will undergo a transformation for The Galileo experience. Enjoy a magical market experience of delicious food and beverages from a mini food market, games, music and fun.

Bring your picnic or arrive hungry and enjoy delectable food options from our mini-market!

Food & Non-Alcoholic Beverages will be available to purchase on location. (BYOB) You may bring in your own alcohol.

Galileo Open Air Cinema: The Great Gatsby

Join us in the Demo Kitchen at Makers Landing this Summer holiday for a magical cooking experience.

The Makers Landing Mini Makers food education program is aimed for kids 5 – 10 years old and teens 11- 16 years old. Empowering tomorrow's food innovators, enthusiasts, and entrepreneurs in a fun and safe environment. Kids learn, make and engage while exploring the kitchen and meeting new friends. The summer edition starts on Thursday 12 December 2024 and runs till 12 January 2024.

Classes will run every Thursday-Sunday from 10am to 11:30pm.

These cooking and baking classes aim to evoke creativity and a new love for food, creating healthy relationships with food and having a fun and exciting experience.


Mini Makers Food Cooking Classes

Naledi’s Festive Dream is a theatrical Christmas production created especially for our vibrant city, played out in a purpose-built theatre over the 2024 festive season. Join Naledi, a 10-year-old Capetonian, as her festive wish to meet Santa’s crew comes true. This cast of quirky characters even visits her in the Mother City to see what Joy from Africa is really about.

Directed by Lee Rath, the energetic festive show is a joyous experience for young and old, filled with music, dancing, rhythms and rhymes. You’ll meet the naughty elf that sits on Naledi’s shelf, as well as dapper Nutcrackers, spinning snowflakes, Santa’s spirited hip-hop elves, dancing candy canes and more. Don’t miss out!

Naledi’s Dream - An Exciting Live Theatre Production

New Years Eve 2024

JCQ PRODUCTIONS is extremely proud to announce that the Cape Town Jazzathon will once again take place at the V&A Waterfront Amphitheatre, from Friday 10 to Sunday 12 January 2024.

The Cape Town Jazzathon, which recently celebrated its 26th Anniversary in 2023, is the longest running music festival in South Africa. The festival is supported by The National Arts Council, The City of Cape Town and The Department of Cultural Affairs and Sport. Also fondly known as ‘The Peoples Festival’, the iconic event will feature at least 6 performances daily, between 12h00 – 20h00.

The annual, free to public festival, will host mainly up-and-coming live bands, newly discovered talent, and as per usual, features a few surprise artists and Jazzathon Legends.

Jazzathon 2025

Undisputed Masters is a global breaking competition series that was established in 2014 by a joint initiative of some of the world’s leading breaking events, judges and competitors. Undisputed has innovated the development of competition rankings and the Trivium judging system that helped Breaking’s debut at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games. The Trivium Judging System is an intuitive digital scoring platform that allows judges to react to breakers in real-time. The system is based on the assessment of three key criteria: the physical quality, interpretative quality and artistic quality of the performance.
